Getting AI and computer vision startup Raidyn to shine at an industry event

We helped AI and computer vision startup Raidyn with the user interface for their automatic rope analysis solution.

An image of an iPad Pro showing an interface used to analyse steel wire ropes. The interface shows several problems across different lays, including 2 broken wires, 2 moderate damages and 1 critical damage. The interface has a clear red warning that the rope should be replaced immediately.

What is Raidyn?

Raidyn is a young AI and computer vision startup from Leuven, Belgium, established in the mid 2024. Raidyn was founded by a team with strong academic credentials and experience in the scale-up and enterprise world.

The challenge

In the leadout to an industry event, we translated Raidyn’s ideas to an attractive and innovative user interface in order to create a meaningful demonstration.

The demo interface showed a steel wire rope, being inspected by several cameras, showcasing the AI and image processing capabilities of Raidyn.

A screenshot of user interface showing a live feed of a a steel rope wire inspection, with charts that show data across 10 seconds of the lay length, current diameter and anomalies. Above the charts are some statistics around the number of anomalies. There appears to be 1 strong anomaly.

Making it real

Through collaboration with development, we helped to make the interface real. Via a shared Storybook setup, we handled the back and forth between the React components and our Figma designs.

A design challenge in this project were streaming charts, as well as charts with multiple axes. We iterated on the micro-interactions involving detailed chart manipulation for complex, time series data.

The demo was a great success, making the stand popular and establishing Raidyn as a new innovator. With a successful conference behind us, we continue to work with Raidyn to help detail the software solution towards a 1.0.

To showcase the Raidyn story, we created an 8-page responsive marketing website for Raidyn with a unique design, showcasing their product. We helped Raidyn establish a brand guide around the usage of colors, typography and icons.

“As a start-up, working with external companies is always a risk. What if the fit is not good? You risk to waste time and money. Working with Johan and the team at Obra Studio was a great match from the start. Their team is very experienced, professional, motivated and always on top of new tech. I also particularly appreciated the open communication on all fronts, technical and commercial. Look at our website and UX and judge for yourself!”
